Our field flooded. Check out the tree on the right. Must be over 3
feet deep.

la Fee Verte-The Green Fairy

Absinthe- Was made legal in the United States this year, so a friend decided that I needed to try some green fairy. He bought the bottle from a liquor store here on the island, and we went for it. We made our drinks the traditional way with Absinthe in the glass, we had to improvise the absinthe spoon with a tea ball, placed a cube of sugar and poured ice water over the sugar, so the cube melted into the absinthe. The mixture should be 3:1 or 4:1. It doesn't stay glowing green (and some are even clear), yet turns into a cloudy greenish color. The flavor was a very strong licorice flavor, which I don't really like. I'm sure it is due to the anise used in making Absinthe. I'm guessing this is an acquired taste, but as I drank it, it was going down easier than the first few sips. No, I didn't see the green fairy, but I will be willing to try this drink again.

Waiting at the doctors.

My ear has been jacked up for a long time. I am finally going to see a
specialist.

iPhone 3G

So July 11, the new iPhone 3G was released at 8:00am local time. On Thursday night, Amber, Steven, and myself decided that we would wake up early the next morning, and go stand in line at our neighborhood At&t store. I got a text @ 4:45am from Amber saying she is heading down to the store. I arrived a little after 5, and was the next person in line behind her, there were approximately 20+ people in front of us, which the security guard has said was in line since 3am. I did hear a rumor that the store had 90 iPhones, so I thought I was pretty safe at number 20something. Our buddy Steve arrived about 30 minutes later, due to the dog he was watching, having a nervous break-down. We had our Starbucks, and waiting in the morning sun til 8, when the doors opened. Those of us in line were handed forms to fill out stating which model we were purchasing, if we were already customer with At&t, etc. I finally walked through the door at about 9am, number 29. 30 minutes later, I came out with a non-working 1st gen iPhone, as well as a non-working 3G iPhone. The iTunes program had crashed, as over 3million people tried to activate their new toys. I prayed on my drive home, I would not have any problems, and by 9:45ish, my 3G iPhone was up and running, with new applications, all my photos, music, videos, all on the phone with no problems. My two other friends, not the same luck. I had to help them later (5 and 6hrs) to get theirs phones running. Now we are all happy we spent that time waiting. Would I do it again? Hmmmm, I'll let you know when the second gen iPhone 3G launches. :)

Waianae

So I have been moved from my current position at MBTA, to the new Kamaile Academy on the beautiful Waianae Coast. Fun! Um, I guess. I just love how the people who live out there, talk about how we need to care for the children and help the community get better. Don't we need to do that for all of our communities? Why is it that I haven't been to that coast in 10+ years? I have no reason to drive out that way. Yes, the mountains are beautiful, and so are the beaches, but why should I put myself in a situation at a "gas station" only to have the locals, ask what I'm doing out there, in "their" area, just because my wife is haole? Who cares who I am related to, if I want to try out a nice beach on that side of the island.
Unfortunately there is no Aloha in Waianae, cause if the locals really knew what "aloha" meant, they would act like a Hawaiian should.

Summer

So far my summer has been a great time. I have been watching 3 wonderful children, who really just need a driver. The oldest, Maia,

These pictures were taken at Pearlridge Mall where we went to visit the Lego Art as well as play a few games in Tilt. After tilt, we stopped for some Icee, and M&M cookies. Check back for more pictures throughout the summer!!!

Super Sonic

Took Sonic to the dog park this morning. We had the park for a few minutes by ourselves, then Ms. Great Dane came in and Sonic took off after her, he would run up, and like say "hey, you can't catch me" and just run away and the big dog would chase him. No way, was this or any dog gonna catch Sonic. He's gotta have some Greyhound in him. The only time the GD would get close, was when Sonic would go the wrong way towards a fence or gate, then he would put his tail between his legs and come back to me. One time the dog jumped and he just ducked down and rolled out of the way, it was pretty awesome. He ran his little heart out for about 15 min, and then another little guy came in, Sonic chased that poor dog for a few min, before we decided to leave. He is covered with mud all over his feet, and laid down to sleep as soon as we got in the car. I put him in the back, and picked up 4-5 piles of poop, while he just laid looking at me. He drank water, and is sleeping, dreaming of tomorrow morning where he can go and run again...

Birthday

So I am a bit past my 32nd birthday, and things went great.
So Thursday June 5 started out a bit like this...
Presents: Shirt, Zelda game for Wii, slippers, $32, then Hulk backpac, and pens, etc, from mom- along with a pan to cook fish on my grill.
Had an awesome lunch with my brother (Kaipo), my dad, and Aina. We ate at Makino Chaya at the Aloha tower. You can check out that blog here.
Went back to work, and was told that I may not have a job next school year-bummer.
Got home to see Carissa laying in bed with a huge dog. Not just a puppy (which she said she was looking to get me) a 6mo old part bull terrier, part something huge (Great Dane). We named him Sonic.

After driving to Franks, and my parents to show off the "puppy" we got him home, and we got ready for Ruth's Chris. Met Roper, Steve, and Mark there. Had awesome conversations, as well as awesome food. Steaks are just so great. As Rope would say,

Came home, and couldn't sleep half the night, since I was so full.

Happy Birthday to me!

Old.

I turn 32 in exactly one week. Wow. I am starting to feel old. My back hurts, my shoulder hurts (and not just after shoulder workouts). My legs take longer to heal. What the heck is going on? Oh well. Still lots to look forward to, holding my baby for the first time..., playing with a new puppy..., buying a new car..., getting the iPhone 3G..., I am so thankful for all the blessings I have with my wife, family and loving friends.

In the process of dying,

FUDGE!

Ezra

So, I got a call this morning from my dad @ 5:37am, Jodi my sister gave birth this morning @ 5:11 to Ezra Aulama Sonny Kaopuiki- 6lbs 15oz. She said that he came out after only 3 pushes, and had big lips and black hair. His hair is starting to fade and lighten, and his lips are already not as big as when he came out.

10 fingers, 10 toes, mom and baby are doing great.

Congratulations Jo.

Prayer Request

There are many people in my life who need prayer. I personally am one of them. Financially I am hurting. I know that the Lord will always provide, I just need to continue to be faithful.

Please pray for:

Chad- His tumor in his arm and the radiation

Rope's Mom- Her bone cancer and starting treatment

Dan Van- That he get his new liver soon, and all other issues around it would be gone

Walt (Rose's dad)- That he receive Jesus, and that his breathing will be under control

Jodi- Her pregnancy, and that Ezra will be healthy

Our friends and neighbors who need to know the Lord.

Who am I?

Above is the song "Who am I" by Casting Crowns found on the website Godtube.com. The site has some good videos, but I am not sure about all of the content so be careful. Someone has put some pictures with the music. Sit back and listen to the words. I love this song.

Happy Friday.

iPhone

Greatest technological invention?

I love it.

iPhone is a revolutionary new mobile phone that allows you to make a call by simply tapping a name or number in your address book, surf the web with a rich HTML mobile Safari, a widescreen iPod with which you can view movies, videos, listen to music, and even connect to YouTube to watch clips.

If you have never played with an iPhone, do yourself a favor, go to an apple store, or At&t store and check one out. You will won't be disappointed.

My School

I am currently teaching 3rd grade at Myron B. Thompson Academy or MBTA. We are an innovative Charter public school in the state of Hawaii. Our K-6 children are homeschooled by their parents, and come in to see me maybe three times a month. If they would like 1 on 1 help, they can schedule that with me. Just like having a tutor on call. Our 7-12 graders take classes online. They have some face to face classes but most are done online and sometimes come in for help as well as exams.

You can check out the school website here. Or go to the Wikipedia page and read about us there as well.

60,000 Miles

Wow, a lot has happened since September. I was waiting for the preschool to call me for the director position. They called, they don't want me. Bummed. Totally bummed. Headed to Omaha, and Arnold in November for gramps sale. He was in a nursing home, couldn't talk, just moaned, and looked sad to be there. Sale went awesome, bought a Cadillac. Froze a little bit, then came home. 13 days later, mom and I flew back... Gramps passed away. Was up there for another week, then back home.
Still no job. Christmas came-new iPhone! New Years came and gone, and went in for an interview at a school to teach on Jan. 14th. Hired on the spot. Started 1 week later.
The 60,000 mile mark came Friday Feb. 22-while driving to practice at church. Things are looking good.
Thank you Jesus for answering prayers.

<-------------- Car is still in Nebraska. Will have in Hawaii soon.
